Waves Within Waves

Have you ever noticed that small things often look like big things?

A trickle of water is a great river. A broken stone is the Himalayas. A puff of smoke is an interstellar dust cloud. A small branching twig is the forest that it came from.

Forms that are self-similar across vastly different scales are called fractal patterns, and they are everywhere you look. They can also be created through pure mathematics.

All this suggests that the universe itself may be a fractal entity that has no end.
